Here’s what you will gain from doing improv:

  • Improv helps you tap into your creativity and trust your ability to be spontaneous
  • Become more confident in challenging situations
  • Help you communicate your thoughts and ideas better
  • Make you more open to other people’s ideas
  • Become a better collaborator and listener
  • Improv helps you develop confidence and be more comfortable being creative without any preparation – this can be in performance but it can also be applied in every aspect of your life. The focus of our Part 1 and Part 2 courses is not so much on performing, but on having fun and learning the fundamentals of improv in a safe and supportive class environment.

    You’ll learn how to:

  • make strong connections with others
  • trust your feelings and follow your instincts
  • support and be supported by others
  • turn ‘mistakes’ to your advantage (for comedy)
  • create comedy in the moment!
  • All our standard courses run for 8 weeks (1 class per week lasting 2 hours). Classes are either in the evening on weekdays or during the day on weekends.

Included in your FUNdamentals 1 course are the following:

  • A free field trip with your fellow students and teacher to see a show at the theatre
  • An ICC Student card giving you free entrance to nICCe Sundays shows & discounts at the bar at the ICC Theatre
  • Two free MainStage show tickets
  • We also have a friendly community of fellow students and improvisers for you to join. Check out our nICCe Sundays community show night in our Show Listings page. All of our courses are conducted in a safe and very supportive way by our experienced ICC teachers.

    Practical Information:

Participants are kindly requested to bring personal water from home for all classes.

    Important Notes:

To enrol in improv classes, students need to be at least 18 years old.

Important Note / Disclaimer: Most of the exercises involve movement, collaboration, and physical interaction with others, including standing, walking, or using your body in various ways. Teachers

    Claire Joyce

Claire was bitten by the theater bug early, performing and studying drama since childhood in her native Ireland. After time away from the stage as an adult, she found her way home with the help of Improv Comedy Copenhagen in 2019 when she took her first improv class with us. Since 2022, she has been performing on ICC’s Main Stage. She enjoys supporting others as they discover the joy of improv.
